In this jumping clinic with Jimmy Wofford, he encourages riders to feel what the horse is doing underneath them instead of looking down to see. He reminds riders to stare at the top rail of the fence until it disappears between the horse’s ears and then shift their gaze up to the next fence. Wofford adds a landing rail to the exercise, explaining how the landing rail helps the horse learn to think about where their feet are. He reinforces the importance of stretching up with your body, not throwing it forward as the horse jumps the fence. Click here to view the full video.
