Earlier this year, the United States Eventing Association (USEA) and the Young Horse Show Series (YHS) joined forces to promote the development of young horse programs in the U.S., for sport horse breeders, owners, riders, and trainers.

The YHS took ownership of the USEA’s Future Event Horse Program in 2023, and the USEA is sponsoring their regional championships with FEH classes, and the existing YHS National Eventer Discipline Recognition Program.

Have you qualified your young horses for the three regional finals?

There are three more qualifiers: Hansen Dam Horse Park (Lake View Terrace, California) on Sept. 15; Twin Rivers (Paso Robles, California) on Sept. 16; and Pine Creek Sport Horses (Newtown, Pennsylvania) on Sept. 9, followed by three regional championships—

Loch Moy Farm (East) - Sept. 23-24 in Adamstown, Maryland

Haras Hacienda (Central) - Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Magnolia, Texas (last-minute qualifier on Sept. 29)

Twin Rivers Ranch (West) – Oct. 28 in Paso Robles, California (last-minute qualifier on Oct. 26)

These regional championships will allow participants the opportunity to qualify for the Young Horse Show Series Final at Tryon International Equestrian Center (Mill Spring, North Carolina) on Nov. 7-11.

“It has been wonderful for YHS to integrate the FEH program and participants so far,” said Jean-Yves Tola, creator of the YHS. “We believe that most people have embraced the transition and are now getting ready for the regional and national finals. We are extremely thankful to USEA and their members for such an enthusiastic response which shows how dedicated to their young horses the eventing community is.

About the USEA Future Event Horse Program

The USEA introduced the Future Event Horse Program in 2007 in response to the popularity of the already established USEA Young Event Horse Program. Where the YEH program assesses 4- and 5-year-old prospective event horses based on their performance, the FEH program evaluated yearlings, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and 4-year-olds for their potential for the sport based on conformation and type. The FEH program will now be run by the Young Horse Show Series, under their umbrella.
