Area II is pleased announced the sites for this year’s Area Championships. The Area II Council has decided to consolidate the Championships as much as possible. After receiving bids from a number of organizers, it was decided that the upper level Area Championships will be held at Plantation Field Horse Trials in September to coincide with its CIC competitions. The other Area Championship levels will be held as part of the October Virginia Horse Trials.

There will be differences between the regular horse trials and the Championship divisions in both show jumping and cross-country. For the upper levels at Plantation, the course will be of a championship nature and may include elements of the CIC. The area will be working with these organizers and USEA to make this year’s championships something special and hope that we will not disappoint anyone.

Put these dates down on your calendar:

Intermediate and Advanced – Plantation: September 16-18
Beginner Novice through Preliminary – Virginia Horse Trials: October 28-30.

As a reminder we changed the qualifying periods last year to ensure that every ride at a horse trial would count toward qualifications in at least one year. Thus the policy is now “from the closing date of the previously run Championship of a given level to the closing date of the current year's Championship at the same level."

This means the qualifying period’s are as follows:
