Big Changes Coming to Waredaca Horse Trials

By Waredaca - Press Release | May 24, 2016

Waredaca values YOU…as our boarder, our student, our visitor, our volunteer, and our eventing competitor. The focus of this note is for YOU, the eventing competitor.

To VALUE anything means to recognize its importance. As one of our eventing competitors, we would like to share some exciting changes occurring at the farm from which you will appreciate and benefit. Competing at Waredaca already includes you into our vast extended family, where despite the numbers, most of you we know by name and look forward to seeing you throughout the year!

We know you VALUE FOOTING…. we do too, good and proper footing. To that end we will continue to aerate our cross-country tracks and will add the warm up areas that have grass footing. Historically, we have aerated the night before each level competes on the cross-country phase. Now, we hope to include watering areas of the track that need it, to further improve the footing. We VALUE what difference this can make.

We also VALUE the need for change. While always being proud of our cross-country design and construction, we recognize the VALUE of a fresh eye and approach. We also VALUE supporting our upcoming national course designers, who need opportunities to craft their talent and developing skills. To that end, and with David O’Connor’s endorsement, we welcome JEFF KIBBIE as our new upper level course designer! David will mentor the Intermediate design, while Steph Kohr will continue to design the BN and N tracks, with Robert as her adviser. This is Jeff's 12th year being involved with us at Waredaca, building and assisting with event prep. He was the natural fit for us going forward and already is planning his ‘signature’ on our tracks.

Also expect to see the beginning of change with our Jumping fences and ‘look’. While known for showcasing our sponsors and supporting local interests, Skip Simmons, who runs our Jumping Phase has begun creating a fresh appearance to our fences, adding VALUE to that phase for you.

Cindy Wood is the new face you will now see at the office check in, as Janey has now officially retired. As our new Event Secretary, she is also a r TD, active competitor herself, current treasurer for Area 2 and very familiar with the sport, adding VALUE to meeting your needs as a rider.

For those visiting with you, we now have the Waredaca Brewing Company open for business and enjoying huge success. Close to the cross-country start, stop by and take pleasure in the experience. Offering non-alcoholic choices and snacks too, it is truly a family brewery. The WBC adds VALUE to our visitors regardless of what brings them to the farm.

Our "family" includes people from the local community, the nation and world, and crosses all ages and backgrounds. We have all been impacted by breast cancer and at Waredaca, we VALUE making a difference. Recognizing the impact this disease has had on our sport and in our own lives, Waredaca is excited to launch 3-2-1 GO! End Breast Cancer, our fundraising effort to support the Johns Hopkins Breast Center and specifically for the Breast Cancer Quality of Care/Quality of Life Measurement Database. This initative will help fund a system designed to measure and support quality of life improvement across the entire Johns Hopkins Breast Center Program. While we are happy to accept donations all year, our fundraiser will take place October 22-23, 2016 during the Training/Novice Classic Three Day Event and Horse Trials to honor breast cancer awareness month. Check our homepage for our 3-2-1 logo and details.

Why compete at Waredaca? Because we VALUE YOU and will deliver to you a quality competition experience. We always welcome your suggestions and comments as to how we can further your VALUE being our competing customers.

Most sincerely,

Gretchen, Robert and Our Staff
