Raeford, NC. – Sunny skies and mild temperatures greeted competitors at the penultimate horse trial in the 10th year anniversary celebration of the Carolina Horse Park, Five Points Horse Trials, September 11-13.
Over three hundred horses competed at all six levels over a newly structured cross country course. New additions included an advanced level footbridge, a redesigned sunken road complex and several other new and exciting questions. Competitors also got a glimpse of things to come as work continues in preparing new galloping lanes for 2010.
Bonnie Mosser and Merloch added only 6.8 time penalties to a dressage score of 29.60 to clinch a win in the Advanced Division. Intermediate Division winners included Young Rider Lizzie Snow riding John and Ellen William’s Sloopy, and Julie Richards and The Lioness. Beth Perkins and Sal Dali and The Fork organizer Linda Dreher riding her own Remington, brought home blue ribbons at preliminary.
