The 2022 USEA Instructors’ Certification Program (ICP) Symposium will return to Florida this winter in just a few short months. Held at Barnstaple South, the USEA’s partner winter training facility in the Ocala, Florida area, the ICP Symposium will run February 8-9, 2022.

All USEA members are invited to attend and audit, and all eventing professionals are encouraged to attend and participate in the interactive sessions.

The ICP Symposium will include instruction of dressage, show jumping, and cross-country as well as the basics of sports psychology, and teaching to all four learning modalities. There will also be interactive portions with instructors breaking into small groups to analyze and suggest how horses and riders should move forward. The symposium will be led by ICP Faculty members, as well as Dr. Paul Haefner, PHD-Sports Psychologist. More presenters will be added and announced at a later date.

Attendees will get a “first look” at the new USEA Eventing Handbook by the Levels – the new national standards for each competition level.

In recent years, the ICP Symposium partnered with the USEA Future Event Horse (FEH) and USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) programs, but the FEH and YEH programs will instead host seminars later in the season, and the 2022 Symposium will focus on the ICP program.

The symposium will remain as a continuing education clinic for ICP Certified Instructors, but it is also open to everyone interested in attending, whether that be other instructors, riders, owners, grooms, family, and friends – anyone who is a fan of eventing and equestrian sport. For the ICP Certified Instructors in attendance, they will receive continuing education credit for attending, however attendance at the symposium does not fulfill the ICP Workshop attendance requirement for ICP Certification.

Information on demo riders and demo horses will be released soon.

About the USEA Instructors’ Certification Program

Instructors are essential to the training of riders and horses for safe and educated participation in the sport of eventing. The USEA Instructors’ Certification Program (ICP) was initiated in 2002 to educate all levels of eventing instructors with essential training principles upon which those instructors can continue to build throughout their teaching careers. ICP offers educational workshops and assessments by which both regular instructors, Level I through Level IV, Young Event Horse (YEH) instructors, and Young Event Horse professional horse trainers can become ICP certified. Additional information about ICP’s goals, benefits, workshops, and assessments as well as names and contact information for current ICP-certified instructors, YEH instructors, and YEH professional horse trainers are available is available on the USEA website.
