Back for its 11th year, Woodside Horse Park in Woodside, California will host FEI divisions as a part of their fall event, the Woodside International Horse Trials. Not only will top international competitors have the chance to contest international CCI4*-S, CCI3*-S, and CCI2*-S divisions, but national competitors will enjoy competition from Introductory to Advanced levels throughout the weekend. Learn about the history of the Woodside Horse Trials in the Events A-Z article.
The Field:
The entire CCI4*-S field are veterans of the level with multiple four-star outings to their name.
James Alliston and Helen Alliston’s 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding Paper Jam (Paparazzo x Reely Jammin XX) are coming in off of a win in the CCI4*-L this summer at Rebecca Farm. Interestingly enough, the 2020 Woodside International was Paper Jam’s first CCI4* outing of his career where the duo took home fifth.
In addition to riding Paper Jam in the CCI4*-S, Alliston has eight other entries this weekend: two in the CCI3*-S, one in the Advanced, two in the Intermediate, one in Preliminary, and two in Training.
Alexandra MacLeod and Newmarket Jack earn the most miles traveled to compete at Woodside, hailing from Marshall, Virginia.
Also traveling in from out-of-state are Megan Sykes and Classic’s Mojah of Granbury, Texas, Ryleigh Leavitt and Moonlight Crush of Littleton, Colorado, and Sophia Click and Quidproquo of Fall City, Washington.
Erin Kellerhouse and her 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Woodford Reserve (Tinaranas Inspector x Laharns Laughton) are returning to contest the CCI4*-S in 2021, hoping to improve upon their second place finish (their debut at the level) and snag the victory.
Australian transplant Rebecca Breitling will be giving the CCI4*-S at Woodside a go with Arnell Sporthorses’ 10-year-old British Sport Horse gelding Caravaggio II. The pair claimed second in the CCI3*-S at Woodside in 2020.
