Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation Renews Partnership with the USEA

By Kaleigh Collett - USEA Staff | Press Release | Aug 13, 2023

The United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) would like to welcome back Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation as an “Official Bronze Level Sponsor of the 2023 USEA American Eventing Championships” and an “Educational Partner of the USEA.” Through this partnership, Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation will provide regular educational content for USEA members to enjoy, and they will support the 2023 USEA AEC, which will take place this Aug. 29—Sept. 3 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation is also sponsoring the USEA Adult Rider Party at the AEC on Thursday, August 31.

“We are so excited to again sponsor the American Eventing Championships and to also become an official education partner with the United States Eventing Association to help educate horse owners,” said Jamie Haydon, president of Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with the eventing community to fund equine research that benefits horses of all shapes, sizes, breeds, and disciplines.”

The original “Grayson Foundation,” which merged with The Jockey Club in 1989 to create today’s Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, was founded in 1940 in honor of Admiral Cary Grayson, President Woodrow Wilson’s personal physician and an avid horse racing enthusiast. In 1939, a plan was formulated whereby the American Thoroughbred Breeders Association (ATBA) would launch a campaign to raise $100,000 and once that money was pledged, the first grant was made as a $1,000 donation to the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. Since its inception, the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation has been dedicated to supporting equine research that enhances the health and safety of horses of all breeds. The foundation has provided nearly $39 million to underwrite more than 426 projects at 45 universities.

“The USEA is proud to partner with Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, as we share an unwavering dedication to the continued improvement of equine welfare,” said USEA CEO, Rob Burk. “As one of the nation’s leading sources of equine research funding, Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation is integral to the horse industry, and we thank them for their support of the USEA.”
