IDCTA Presents: “Lameness Diagnostics - Figuring Out What’s Wrong When Your Horse is Off” with Dr. Sarah Peters

On April 21, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. CST join the Illinois Dressage and Combined Training Association (IDCTA) for Session #1 of the IDCTA Veterinary Zoom Series.

Sarah Peters, VMD, CVSMT, CERP of Forward Equine Veterinary Services will discuss recognizing when your horse might need a lameness evaluation, what to expect from the exam, and how a diagnosis is made. An overview will be given of both procedures: diagnostic analgesia (nerve blocks) and diagnostic imaging, such as radiographs, ultrasound, CT, and MRI.

Bio: Dr. Sarah Peters graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (“PennVet”). She completed internships at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY, and New Bolton Center – PennVet, as well as an orthopedic research fellowship in Switzerland. Dr. Peters is certified in veterinary spinal manipulative therapy (aka “animal chiropractics”) and is also a certified equine rehabilitation practitioner. She started Forward Equine Veterinary Services in 2016 and provides sports medicine and rehabilitative care to horses in eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
