The USEA is looking forward to the second annual USEA Intercollegiate Championships at the Virginia Horse Trials May 25-28, 2017. Competitors are urged to read the previous press release, which includes pertinent information about the Championships, including scoring and team dynamics as well as stabling and prize information. All schools and team riders are encouraged to take a few moments to review it and distribute to other members of their team.
The USEA would like to point out a few important details about the entry process:
-Team rosters MUST be sent to Leslie Threlkeld (leslie.a.threlkeld@gmail.com) by May 17, 2017
-All riders should declare their school on the stabling form to ensure the students are stabled together
-Each 3 or 4 person team will receive one free tack stall
-A college or university MUST be an USEA Affiliate Organization in order for their students to participate in the Intercollegiate Championships. Some schools have net yet renewed their affiliate status for 2017. See a list of current affiliated schools and get more information at this link.
-We're glad to bring back the Spirit Award, which rewards refunds on entries to the winning team. UGA won last year, sporting matching saddle pads and outfits, painted faces and impressive team camaraderie. The students' team spirit will be observed throughout the competition and the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony Sunday afternoon. This prize is not just about wearing your school colors but supporting your fellow teammates and showing true team spirit!
-All college competitors will be stabled together in “College Town” which will be located in a large stabling complex with an indoor arena. Each participating school will be given a designated area to set up tents, banners and put out brochures etc. to promote their school's equestrian program. A modest amount of school "swag" is okay in the stall area, but we ask that you keep the aisle clean and safe for horses to pass through.
-Entries close on April 25th for the FEI divisions and May 9th for the horse trials. Teams MUST email their rosters to Leslie Threlkeld (leslie.a.threlkeld@gmail.com) by May 17. Note, one student may not ride two horses on the same team.

About the USEA Intercollegiate Program
In 2014, the USEA Board of Governors approved the creation of the Intercollegiate Eventing Program as an official program of the USEA. Originally proposed with input from the Intercollegiate Eventing League, the program was established to provide a framework on which Eventing teams and individual competition could flourish at universities and colleges across the country. Don’t forget if you have not yet renewed your membership with the USEA – Collegiate members get a $25 discount! Log onto your Online Services Account to renew, and a $25 refund will be issued after the USEA has received proof of enrollment from the school.
