On March 13 and 14, Danny Warrington and Jonathan Holling will host a special LandSafe Clinic at Holling’s farm in Ocala, Florida. This LandSafe Clinic is sponsored by a grant from the United States Eventing Association and is focused not only on educating riders on the importance of fall safety, but also educating parents.

“There was a fall recently that was very close to both Johnathan and I,” said Warrington. “We got together in a short amount of time to put this together.”

Warrington explained that they’re not just concerned with educating riders on fall safety and defensive riding, they also want parents to understand how valuable this training can be. “We’re trying to reach the parents and get them to understand the importance of this,” he said.

“It’s not just learning how to fall, it’s a defensive riding issue,” said Warrington. “Emergency dismounts are something we practice and go over and talk about during our clinics. It’s not just rotational falls. It’s not just tuck and roll. It’s a full on 8-hour seminar.”

“Safety in the sport of eventing is a multi-layered system, and the LandSafe program is an integral part of rider safety,” said Holling. “If you compete in cross-country competition, then statistically you are at some point going to fall. With all the effort we put into riding it’s time we put some effort into what to do when things go inevitably wrong. It’s the responsible thing to do for yourself, your horse, and our sport.”

Thanks to the support of the USEA, the price for this clinic has been reduced to $225. The clinic is scheduled for Tuesday March 13 and Wednesday March 14 so as to not conflict with any events. Register on the LandSafe website by clicking here.
