In less than a week, 44 pairs will head down the centerline, gallop out of the start box, and clear the final show jump in an attempt to win a chunk of the prize money in the $60,000 Adequan® USEA Advanced Final at the 2021 USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds. The winner will take home $30,000, second place earns a nice $10,000, and the rest of the $20,000 will be distributed through 25th place!
It is the second largest field ever for the division and is packed full of Olympians, past AEC champions, and up-and-coming stars. The 2019 champions, Boyd Martin and Long Island T, are returning to defend their title, but the reserve champions Leslie Law and Voltaire De Tre are also entered and are looking to go one better to stand on the top spot of the podium. Law already has two AEC Advanced wins (2008 and 2009) – can he be the first person to win three times? Or will Buck Davidson become the first to score a hattrick? Davidson won in 2011 on the great Ballynoe Castle RM and again in 2014 on Petite Flower. He has three horses entered this year: Carlevo, Sorocaima, and Jak My Style, so is in with a good shot.
The Advanced dressage gets underway at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday and Davidson and Carlevo will be the trailblazers. Cross-country begins at 9:36 a.m. on Thursday, and the show jumping finale will be under the lights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
