The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is once again pleased to announce the renewed partnership with The Jockey Club as a Silver Level Sponsor of the 2022 USEA American Eventing Championships (AEC) presented by Nutrena Feeds. The Jockey Club will award Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) prizes in all 23 AEC divisions that include a cooler, ribbon, and prize money for every T.I.P. Champion and T.I.P. Reserve Champion. This year’s AEC will be held on August 30-September 4 at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana.
The Jockey Club will also join as a Contributing Level Sponsor of the USEA Young Event Horse Program (YEH) and USEA Future Event Horse Program (FEH). As a Contributing Level Sponsor, The Jockey Club will award a cooler, ribbon, and prize money to the overall T.I.P. Champion at each YEH and FEH Championships.
“The Thoroughbred Incentive Program is excited to again be sponsoring the American Eventing Championships,” said Kristin Werner, senior counsel for The Jockey Club and administrator of TIP. “Thoroughbreds have traditionally thrived as eventers in careers beyond the racetrack, and we’re appreciative of the USEA for promoting their talents in this discipline.”
Back in 1894, amidst the growing interest in racing, eight racers got together to form an association with the purpose of reining in the chaos and ensuring the future of racing. Their purpose was, “not only to encourage the development of the thoroughbred horse, but to establish racing on such a footing that it may command the interests as well as the confidence and favorable opinion of the public.” The organization went on to gain widespread recognition as an industry leader and held strong to their commitment to Thoroughbreds. From medication to marketing, The Jockey Club has strived to better the welfare and growth of racing as a whole. An example being their T.I.P. program which was developed to encourage the retraining of Thoroughbreds into other disciplines upon the completion of their racing careers or breeding ability. The program offers sponsorship for Thoroughbred-only classes and divisions, high point Thoroughbred awards at open horse shows and competitions, a Thoroughbred of the Year Award, and a Young Rider of the Year Award as well.
“The USEA is excited to continue the partnership with The Jockey Club’s Thoroughbred Incentive Program,” said USEA CEO, Rob Burk. “I have been riding Thoroughbreds all my life, and any eventer knows that Thoroughbred blood lines run deep throughout our sport. We are proud to offer T.I.P. awards in our programs such as the Future Event Horse, Young Event Horse and USEA American Eventing Championships!”
