Throwback Thursday Presented by the USEA Foundation: 1975 Pan Am Games

By USEA | Jul 30, 2015

The 1975 Pan American Games were only the fifth edition of the Games and they took place in Mexico City. With only four teams participating, it was a small field and the U.S. Team won by nearly 300 points over second-placed Canada and third-placed Mexico. The remaining team, Guatemala, only finished one of their horses for fourth place.

Mexican soldiers grabbing bridles on roads and tracks, Jim Day was eliminated for weighing in with his whip in hand, Tad Coffin was given an accidental 200 time penalty points on cross-country and with judging spreads of 40 points in dressage - things sure have come a long way in the last 40 years!
