USEA Area III Young Riders Currently Accepting Resumes for 2010 Area Team Selector

By Area III | Apr 07, 2010

The purpose of the Young Rider Program, offered through the USEA, is to encourage our Young Riders’ to be “involved in the sport of Eventing and perhaps continue this involvement into their adult lives.” Accommodating riders of all levels, the organization seeks to “create a love of the sport, an appreciation and understand of the horse as well as responsibility.” In addition, we hope to “generate involvement early on, helping lower level riders to realize their goals and eventually achieve success at the higher levels through dedication, hard work and discipline.”

The primary goals and objectives of the Area III Young Rider and Young Rider Advancement Program (YRAP)s is to augment and compliment the Area Young Rider members in furthering their horsemanship and riding careers. A primary effort of these objectives, is to field four intermediate and four preliminary riders for two and one star teams for the North American Junior Young Rider Championships held in late July/ early August. Additionally, Area III
utilizes the close proximity of the Kentucky Mid-South Team Challenge as an educational and fun team effort, fielding Beginner Novice, Novice, Training and Preliminary teams for this event. Area III provides a training camp as well as coaching at these events for the teams.

The process of fielding these teams is accomplished by the three Area Selectors observations and rankings at Observation and Selection Horse Trials as well as at a selection clinic for all candidates. Their rankings are then submitted and teams are identified. If a candidate of either a selector or coach is also a student or client of said selector or coach, the selector or coach is to excuse themselves from this ranking process for this candidate.
