USEA Young Event Horse and Future Event Horse divisions have been added to the 2017 Heart of the Carolinas (HOTC) Three-Day Event and Horse Trials at Southern 8ths Farm May 3-7.
The FEH/YEH competition will take place on Thursday, May 4. The divisions include YEH-4yo, YEH-5yo, FEH-yearling, FEH-2yo, FEH-3yo and the new FEH-4yo. This event will count as a qualifier for the 2017 FEH/YEH Championships.
YEH 4 and 5-year-olds may also enter the horse trials which begins on Friday, May 5.
All YEH/FEH owners, riders and handlers are welcome to audit the three-day educational sessions taught by our excellent clinicians and officials such as the jog and dressage demonstrations, ten-minute/vet box discussions and cross country course walks.
The HOTC organizing committee is dedicated to horse and rider education and adding the young horse divisions to the schedule seemed a logical way to bring the concept full circle. The USEA’s YEH and FEH programs were created to identify talented event horses for the future, but many breeders and owners have also found that their youngsters benefit from the exposure to a competition atmosphere and everything that goes along with show prep and travel.
Southern 8ths will also host a standalone YEH/FEH competition offering the same divisions on Sunday, August 19, 2017 as an additional Championships qualifier and a fundraiser for the 2018 Heart of the Carolinas Three-Day.
